Regional Development Council

Welcome to the Regional Development Council (RDC) website.

The RDC is the Ministerial Council responsible for regional development issues in Australia. It comprises federal, state, territory and New Zealand governments responsible for regional development, and a representative from the Australian Local Government Association.

The aim of the Regional Development Council is to facilitate more effective cooperation across all spheres of government in order to achieve sustainable economic, social and environmental outcomes for regional Australians.

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) has agreed that the System of Ministerial Councils will be reformed from 30 June 2011.   COAG announced at its meeting held on 13 February 2011 that under the new COAG Council system a new Standing Council on Regional Australia will be established.
